Completed in 2008 in response to the needs of an active growing community. The original facility constructed in 1979 included 2 hockey and 1 curling arenas and a swimming pool. The expansion program consisted of a full retrofit of existing facilities with major additions. The expansion included a 25m x 6-lane lap pool, gymnasium, 1500 seat Junior A ice arena, outdoor playing fields, weight training and dance studios, change rooms, youth centre, administration offices, and a commercial physiotherapy clinic. Due to parking constraints the new ice arena and playing fields were constructed at a separate location adjacent to the Okotoks Centennial Community Centre. In keeping with the Town’s sustainable design philosophy, the facilities were designed with great attention towards durability, future flexibility and energy efficiency.
